DISCOVER THE BEACHES

By car, the coast can be reached from Finca La Vida in about 25 minutes. Descending quietly from Cómpeta, the Mediterranean Sea beckons in the distance.

There are many beaches and coves to discover. Here are a few of our favorites:

* Las Calas del Pino

* La Herradura

* La Caleta

* Playa Molino de Papel

* Playa Alberuillas

* Playa Cantarriján

Not every beach is directly accessible by car. To reach the quieter natural beaches, park your car at the top of the street and descend by foot. Sturdy shoes are a must!

HIKING AND MOUNTAIN BIKING IN THE NATURE PARK

The Sierra de Tejeda-Almijara y Alhama is part of a region known as the Axarquía (Moorish for 'Land to the East'). It is wedged between Malaga and the Sierra Nevada and rises spectacularly behind the busy and narrow coastal strip of the Costa Tropical.

Although the eastern part of the Axarquía, where the natural park is located, offers the most nature, the entire area is interesting to explore. The Parque Natural Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara y Alhama (40,600 ha) has been a natural park since 1999. The western part is in the province of Malaga. Here you will also find the highest mountain, La Maroma (2,080 m). Other high mountains are Navachica (1,832 m) and Lucero (1,776 m). The eastern part is in the province of Granada; the park border runs exactly through the middle.

In the Sierra de Tejeda-Almijara y Alhama you will find steep rocky slopes covered with pines, sharp mountain ridges, deep ravines and wild mountain streams, olive groves and 'Pueblos Blancos'. The nature in the area is simply spectacular and perfect for undertaking interesting walks or mountain biking.

GOLF

Spain is the market leader in Europe when it comes to golf. Thousands of golf enthusiasts have been choosing Spain for their golf vacation for years. The most obvious reason is of course the pleasant climate and the good accessibility from all European airports. The country has more than 300 golf courses, of which about 70 can be found on the Costa del Sol. It is not without reason that the Costa del Sol is also called Costa del Golf.

The nearest Golf Clubs are:

+ Baviera Golf www.bavieragolf.com

+ Añoreta Golf www.anoretagolf.es

These two courses were both designed by Jose Maria Canizares, the famous Spanish golfer from Madrid who, among other things, played four times in the European Ryder Cup team, in five European PGA tours and two World Championships.

HORSE RIDING

Here in the area you can enjoy horse riding in the open air. Really a nice recommendation, even if you have no experience. The routes lead through the beautiful hinterland and the mountains of Nerja. On the route you ride through orchards with avocado, olive and all kinds of fruit trees; you can see the melons growing on the ground.

You can go to Cortijo Hidalgo. The horses are well cared for by the Swiss-Spanish owners Heidi and Antonio. The riding is done in the Spanish western style. That means that you hardly use the reins. It takes some getting used to for the advanced riders (especially because of the enormous steel stirrups), but it is actually a relaxed way of riding.

Another option is Los Caballos del Josquin. With about 20 horses, this stable is located on the road from Cómpeta to Canaillas de Albaida. The owner Eva will take you through the beautiful surroundings of Andalusia with everything it has to offer. Eva speaks Spanish, German and English.
